I have found that all the books that I have read of Anna Jacobs are great. You pick them up and you can't put them down. I have readed 24 of her books and they have come up to my highest rating that I keep for all of the writers that I read. Thanks Anna keep the books coming

I only recently discovered this author and I have to say I really like all of her books I have read so far. This one did not disappoint. If you like historical novels with a bit of romance thrown in, you might enjoy this book too.

A good little book...

...that moves swiftly and keeps you entertained. While it is no great literary classic, it is good writing that moves along nicely. A light, airy read (without all the long, boring descriptions that I feel are fillers in most novels and therefore skip through) that allows the reader to care for the main character and keeps you reading till the last page.

Yes...it is unrealistic and predictable...but the book did its job and that job was to entertain me.

I'll read more books by this author.

I am going to start off by saying I have been a fan of Queen and Freddie Mercury since the mid 70's, when I was a kid. To this day I miss him.

This book was a great read, I read it in one night. It was written by David Evans, but with Peter Freestone's input. It was an emotional rollercoaster of comments and facts. I truly believe that "Phoebe" cared for Freddie, knew him well and would not write something untrue or tabloid-ish for the sake of writing a book like other's have.

One can tell that there are hurt feelings and that he was still grieving at the time of the writing, but he was not malicious in expressing his feelings.

He explains things about Freddie's relationship with Mary and Barbara in a way that confirmed what I always thought. A lot of people want to romanticize aspects of Freddie and his relationships, because it ties a pretty bow around everything. But someone with an open mind and a keen eye can see that everything was not the fairy tale that they want to believe. He also made a point about Freddie and love in general that made sense. And for those who criticize others for wanting to know all about Freddie's romantic life, I would remind you that Freddie himself talked about sex very frequently, often bragged about it, and used his extreme sex appeal to woo the audience.

As I said, the book was an emotional rollercoaster for me, but Phoebe ended it on a positive note. I recommend the book and thank Phoebe and David Evans for writing it.

Freddie Mercury - What He Left Behind

The book was kind of a let down. Since the title of the book is: "Freddie Mercury - What He Left Behind" I assumed the book would be more about Freddie and what he left behind rather than what happened to his friends. I do appreciate Peter Freestone sharing his life and all that he and the rest of Freddie's friends went through after Freddie died. Am sure it was a very tortuous time for all of them. My expectations were too high and thought the book would be more about what Freddie actually did leave behind, other than his music and his legacy. It was an okay read and glad I could read it on Kindle rather than purchasing the actual book.

I enjoyed this book, tho only rating it four stars for it's brevity... I found it interesting to understand some of the things going on in the background at Garden Lodge at the time of the illness and death of Freddie Mercury, and to be more balanced than Jim Hutton's view. I came away not
disliking Mary Austin as much as I found I had, and felt much more empathy for her.

Susan Winebrenner, M.S., is a former classroom teacher and current full-time consultant in staff development. She presents workshops and seminars nationally and internationally, helping educators translate educational research into classroom practice. Susan is also the author of Differentiating Content for Gifted Learners in Grades 6–12 (CD-ROM) and Teaching Kids with Learning Difficulties in the Regular Classroom, and coauthor of The Cluster Grouping Handbook. She lives in San Marcos, California.

Dina Brulles, Ph.D., is a school administrator and the gifted education director for the Paradise Valley Unified School District in Arizona. Prior to becoming an administrator, Dina was an elementary classroom teacher, a bilingual teacher, an ESL teacher, and a gifted-cluster teacher. Dina is coauthor of The Cluster Grouping Handbook. She lives in Peoria, Arizona.

Totally worth the money.

This book is AMAZING. It has so many differentiation strategies. The strategies aren't just for gifted kids, they are just good teaching. Pre test students and give different activities for the different levels. There are tons of reproducibles such as extension menus and learning contracts. There is also a CD that contains all of the master copies. Loved this book.

Definitely in good taste!

Love the book. It's very classy. It's a starter hostess' guide to entertaining and I really enjoyed leafing and reading through the book! I highly recommend, even if just for bookcase or coffeetable prop, too pretty inside and out!

Great Look, Great Read

As a recent college graduate, I really appreciated this book. I read it cover to cover and found it to be delightful, as well as informative. The chapters/sections are as follows: Parties/Hostessing, Food (including several recipes), Manners (with modern takes on things my Grandmothers did not teach me, as texting, emails, etc. were not a part of their generation, as well as things not even my very well mannered Mother knew), and Style (for the home).
Although much of the content was geared towards mega-cities, such as Chicago and New York, I found that the information was easily adaptable to other sized cities, such as Greenville, SC and Birmingham, AL. I feel as though the ideas are versatile, and would be applicable to smaller areas as well.
The book is beautifully designed inside and out, appealing to most everyone who walked through my door. All, relative ages 20-95, found the faux wine-stain to be both cute and unexpected. It reflects the nature of the book inside in a humorous fashion.
I highly recommend this book. If the wine-stain on the cover offends you in some fashion, or you do not find any humor in it, this may not be the best choice for you. Loaded with advice, it is meant to be light-hearted and entertaining.
For those seeking ideas on complimentary books, I also recommend "Tory Burch In Color," and "Place to Go, People to See," the latter of which is also a Kate Spade book.

P.S. A chocolate babka is a sweet, chocolate loaf of bread that is "the answer to everything," because it can be used for breakfast, dessert, snacks and is delicious. It's fairly simple to make, and is always received with gratitude.

Unmemorable

I bought this book after my favorite fashion blogger suggested it. It is the first time she (the blogger) let me down. I found this book specific to large city functions and I'm not sure the author realizes there is a world outside of New York City. But the biggest flaw is that this book is pretty unmemorable. After having read the book about a week ago, I have to say I really don't remember much about it.

Nick Clifford is Professor and Head of Department at King’s College London.

Professor Valentine has held prestigious international visiting fellowships at the Universities of Sydney, Australia and Otago, New Zealand and has visited and given keynote addresses at a range of prestigious international conferences. She was co-founder and co-editor of the international journal Social and Cultural Geography, and co-edited Gender, Place and Culture. She has undertaken international research in Europe, Africa and the USA and is committed to developing the University of Sheffield's international strategy within the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Another above-par undegrad intro to methods for geographers in training

This book, along with its counter part, KEY CONCEPTS IN GEOGRAPHY, would be my first choice for undergrad geography majors, whether emphasizing cultural, physical or both. As I said in another review, the Brits seem to have it together when creating digestable material for their students of geography. Highly recommended as supplements to the standard physical and cultural geography textbooks used in the U.S.
