About the Author
Mike Gray (1935―2013) was an engineer, screenwriter, and author. He was the co-founder of The Film Group, a Chicago-based production company.

Ira Rosen is a producer for CBS's 60 Minutes and a freelance writer. He lives in New York City.

Fascinating Read!

I was only 10 year old when this accident occured and for most of my life I had no idea what had happened. In the late 90s I watched a documentary created by National Geographic. I was amazed by the story! When I went searching for a book on the subject I gravitated towards Mike Gray's. He was the screenwriter for "The China Syndrome", he's an engineer, and was on the ground at TMI when the story was unfolding, just weeks after the release of the movie!

The narative is wonderful, and sharp, and keeps the reader in the mind-set of those in the thick of it. It moves like a fast paced novel and you can feel yourself cringe when the engineers and managers miss a vital clue and are pushed deeper into trouble. I enjoyed that fact that they gave a little background on the main problems in the industry, that led to the problems at TMI. Gray doesn't place too much blame on any one person, instead he blames the system and the design, and the arrogance of those that think nothing bad can happen. Good, very smart men, made some really bad decisions, not because they weren't clever enough, but because the environment itself doesn't lend itself to making good decisions.

A great book! I have read it twice and still get goosebumps.....

Harrowing true story of the Three Mile Island nuclear accident

a harrowing blow-by-blow description of exactly what happened at Three Mile Island, every step of the way. Gripping, terrifying, compelling - and every word of it true. I received the book from Amazon at about 6:30 p.m. and read until my eyes couldn't focus; by 10:30 this morning, I'd finished.

If you haven't read this book, you must. "Human error" and "engineering oversight" don't begin to cover it. This is what catastrophe looks like. This is all the places a nuclear reactor and those who run it can go off the rails.

This March 28, TMI marks its 35th anniversary. I am hopeful that just because it comes only 17 days after the third anniversary of Fukushima that we do not ignore its significance. I will be posting a special Nuclear Hotseat on Three Mile Island on Tuesday, March 25 (NuclearHotseat.com/blog). Until then, I urge you: Read THE WARNING and realize that's exactly what it is.

I love Marketing Over Coffee, but B2B Marketing Confessions is even better for 2 reasons:

1. More comprehensive: MOC often focuses on cutting edge marketing topics (like integrating your social media analytics into your customer database to auto-populate your webinar slides...). A marketer's inspiration

As a longtime listener of John Wall's Marketing Over Coffee Podcast with Christopher S. Penn, I'm so pleased he wrote this book. Wall gives context to the world of sales and marketing in this practical guide. There's so much great content, my head almost exploded. I find myself going back to it again and again for reference and guidance. (I actually listened to the audio book first, and then went back and bought the book.) Needless to say, my e-book is heavily highlighted. Wall not only covers strategy, but tactics, and encourages readers to experiment. The book's framework inspired me to launch a series of "Sales and Marketing Labs" for our sales and customer service team. Now everyone can be on the same page with common definitions and important points relative to sales and marketing terms, CRM, product marketing, demand generation, the sales function. and customer lifestyle.

Everything in 1 book - Great advertising & marketing resource

I'm a small business owner with 12 employees and, honestly, the last thing in the world I care about is my marketing and advertising. I was given this book through a friend of a friend and was told that even though it was titled "B2B" not to worry because the tips provided were great for B2C.

Having read it, I have been able to set-up a better than average blog, create email distribution lists and am working on several changes for my direct mailings.

This book is better than anything else I've read on the topic of managing your own marketing and PR in an effective and economical way.

For instance, if the child needs to find an odd one out in a set, there may be only one correct answer. If the child is asked to match identical figures, there will be exactly one match for each figure, and the counterpart will be located in a different column. The child perceives the instructions and solutions as the “rules of the game” and learns to follow them, and is stumped by the smallest exception to these rules – say, there are two different ways to exclude an extra object or there are three matching shapes. There are also hidden, but pervasive visual stereotypes: children often memorize images and connect them with the required words; for instance, they know that a picture with dots drawn in the corners of a square is called “four”, and an identical picture with an extra dot in the middle is called “five”. But can they recognize the same number five if it looks different? These stereotypes interfere with a child’s ability to master counting, and constrict the child’s freedom of thought. Therefore, in this workbook we try to break as many stereotypes as possible. -In some problems, we have two correct solutions (a pair of friends can split a chocolate bar in different ways); some problems lack an answer (an odd number of objects cannot be divided in two). After all, in mathematics no solution is also a solution. -A matching pair of shapes can be found in the same column. -We build geometric figures using not only the usual squares, but also diamonds, trapezoids, and triangles: -When the child is asked to find a number value, we use a variety of shapes in addition to dots: diamonds, crosses, anything. Also, their arrangements in the boxes are random, unlike the standard dice configurations. Always doing the same exercises is just boring. Yet, mathematics includes so many beautiful and interesting topics! A great book, and it really is fun!

We love all the math books by this author. Our 5-yr old son asks for his "math pages", and is so proud of himself when he gets them done. It's not easy to find math books that are not boring/repetitive and at the right level for this age group, and this is a great example.

Great for Engagement Pictures

I have many poses that I have created. However, my ego is not to big to believe that I cannot learn from other photographers. Therefore, I have found this book extremely useful when showing couples who are having engagement pictures done different poses that they might want to consider. I give them the book for a couple days and ask them to select 10 plates they really like and then we meet again and I collect their list. Then on the day of the shoot, I bring the book and show each image they chose. I set the book on the ground so they can see it to help them get into the specific pose. It is much easier to show a couple a picture than try to explain the pose them verbally. It works extremely well. Great book and increases my artistic effect with little work on my part.

Perspective is everything

This book has gotten several bad reviews lately, but I adore it. The one reviewer who said the images were soft focused and as a professional photographer he was not impressed likely missed the entire point of the book. It's not a book about dynamic images...for that perhaps you'll want to consider 75 Portraits by Hernan Rodriguez: Lighting and Posing Techniques for Portrait Photographers. This book is about poses so, be they soft focused or not, this book is full of various ones photographers can look at and glean inspiration from. Photography is visual of course and not too many photographers are going to see the same image the same way. Thank God for that actually. I highly doubt I will replicate any of the images in this book exact, but it does offer a great foundation to learn from. I personally love that it's page after page after page of images and not too many words. At the end of the book, two pages are included with some tips that are pretty basic, but a refresher is never a bad thing is it?

Posing and lighting are often two challenging areas for photographers, especially as more than one subject is added and this book offers some interesting ways to pose couples. Are some images better and more stimulating than others? Of course! But, some photographers are also better than others too. This book, and the poses offered can help a photographer take ordinary shots and turn them into extraordinary shots if they can apply a little of the own ingenuity. I will be purchasing the remaining 500 poses I'm missing from this author.

Buy This One, but not the others.

I buy more books on photography than I read, because photography is an art form, and most authors of books on photography don't know how to produce photos worthy of art. The photos in this book are examples of the art of photography.

This book inspired me to buy it with the photos they showed in the ad as examples. The other books in this series did not inspire me, because they showed common pictures anyone could take, and I didn't buy any of them.

I've looked over this book now that I have it, and I think I will be going back to it again for ideas on couples photographing. If you photograph couples, you could use this book.

An amazing Journey

This is an amazing journey into the heart. Many of the ideas I have heard before from other sources, but the way they are presented, and the fact that the book gives specific exercises to help you achieve the ideals presented is different and very helpful. In particular, Chapter 3 and the exercises in forgiveness have changed my life. I recommend this to anyone seeking to change their lives to live in love instead of fear.

Better than I expected, and she's my favorite author

This book was a genius sequel to Career Girls. You can read the summary to see what it's all about, but this book was perfection. Funny, serious, sexy, and all the wonderously great things you'd expect from Louise. This will be yet another masterpiece I read over and over, especially when I want to feel like a powerful woman, who can do anything I set my mind to. That's what this is ultimately about: you can do anything.
